Monika CzalejMonika Czalej (mezzo-soprano) graduated from the University of Gdansk, Poland (Faculty of Social Sciences) and the Academy of Music in Gdansk majoring in singing and scenic performance under the supervision of Wiesława Maliszewska PhD.
She continued advanced studies in Denmark with Lars Waage, Helene Gjerris and Elisabeth Meyer Topsøe. During her studies, after hearing in Mainz, Germany, Monika Czalej appeared in Verdi's La Traviata staged at one of the world's most famous opera festivals, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in France.
At present Monika Czalej as a concert soloist performs extensively at home and abroad. She has performed numerous times in many major musical venues in Poland, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Romania, Moldova and France. She has worked with such respected conductors as J. Przybylski and Yutaka Sado. On several occasions she has performed on Polish radio and television (TVP1, TV Polonia - a live concert of music from the Italian Swiss canton), she has also sung solo parts in P. Mascagni's opera Cavalleria rusticana, and in Mozart's oratorio Betulia Liberta. Since 2005 she has been a soloist in the ensemble Via Artis Konsort (Denmark / Spain). Together with the ensemble she has given about 100 concerts, performed at many festivals and recorded the album Via stellae. Monika appears in various international projects with well-known and popular personalities of music in a wonderful repertoire of Spanish music, Zarzuela, or Latin American baroque.
